Red River College Language Training Centre
Red River College's Language Training Centre offers basic to advanced levels of full-time English programs for adults based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB). CLB is the national standard used in Canada for describing, measuring and recognizing the English language proficiency of adult immigrants and prospective immigrants for living and working in Canada. The CLB describe what adult English as an additional language learners can do, using English, at twelve levels of proficiency, or benchmarks. The twelve benchmarks are separated into three progressive levels of proficiency:
- Stage I (CLB Levels 1-4) - basic level of proficiency
- Stage II (CLB Levels 5-8) - intermediate level of proficiency
- Stage III (CLB Levels 9-12) - advanced level of proficiency

Entrance Requirements
All immigrant applicants must have an English language assessment from WELARC (Winnipeg English Language Assessment and Referral Centre). Please call (204) 943-5387 to register for a language assessment. Once your English language skills have been assessed, WELARC will refer you to a language training program. Students that have been referred to Red River College's Language Training Centre will be contacted when a space becomes available.
International applicants are also required to have their English language skills assessed before they are eligible to attend English classes. Please contact the International Education Student Services, 3rd floor office of RRC Language Training Centre, (204) 945-8387 for more details.
Program Fees
There are no program or student fees for Permanent Residents, Refugee claimants and Citizens of Canada.
